T H E   M A R T I N E Z   D E S I G N   P R O J E C T

The Martinez Design Project is a New York City based project operating as a brand of one-of-a-kind hand-painted t-shirts and tote bags. It was created in the summer of 2006 by native Texan twins, Emily and Leslie Martinez under their initial vision of the ‘traveling canvas’. It began with tote bags and by the end of 2009 made the leap to include apparel. The conceptual aim of The Martinez Design Project is to function as an offshoot of Leslie’s independent studio practice, offering the customer quick intuitive drawings and possible initial sketches of characters and motifs that may later appear in the work. It allows art appreciators to affordably wear, carry and promote images they feel a connection with while allowing them to forge new connections in the public sphere. So far MDP products have found owners within the four corners of the U.S. to as far as Paris and Buenos Aires.
